Ok, so I thought I had seen all the most impressive body art one could see UNTIL I saw the most amazing genre tattoo art ever!

Little did the classic authors such as Jules Verne (20,000 Leagues Under the Sea), Mary Shelly (Frankenstein) and H.G. Wells (The Time Machine) know they would provide the impetus for the growth of a steadily growing subculture in the 21st century.

Weaving adventures by describing steam kinetics combined with liberal doses of science fiction these writers took their readers on journeys through time, space and sea in steam fueled massive assemblages of gears in strange, yet romantic, vehicles of steel in fantastical proportions.

Those who have fallen in love with this fantastical world of the imaginary images of strange contraptions, gears, whoops and whistles, and grieve the "lost boys" of inventions left behind, such as the dirigibles and "digital mechanical computers" have come to be known as the people of "Steampunk".

These are people who have come together from an assortment of social connections. The Steampunk culture beckons to a wide assortment of sub cultures; punks, goths, cybergoths and geeks just to name a few. Tending toward a more Victorian period of the dark, sepia gray English alley views of the world, they gather with an accessorized wardrobe. For the men, it's suits with vests, spectacles and pocket watches. For women its corsets, petty coats, high buttoned shoes and parasols.

Steampunk has been defined as "the intersection of technology and romance". Not as dark as the meetings of the goth, and certainly not as loose as the hip-hop bunch, the Steampunk culture is sophisticated and mannerly. And, with their period wardrobe, are strikingly beautiful. For outsiders they present themselves in public as a pleasant distraction from the everyday grind and drabness of the day. Social gatherings are consistent with the age their wardrobe reflects: tea parties and time travel balls, while conversation is spent discussing new clockwork inventions, the krakens of the air and the squeaky wheels of rejected "curiosities.

In the not so distant past, Steampunk has been represented by manners, vernacular and dress, now a new more enigmatic form of Steampunk expression has entered the group: Body art!

And, as the title has already stated, I believe it to be the most amazing tattoo art in the world!
